Danum Homes has completed the sale of part of its Market Weighton development site to leading retailer Lidl, marking a major step forward in the delivery of this significant mixed-use scheme in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

The 19-acre site, originally acquired from land promoter Richborough in late 2024, already benefits from outline consent for 120 new homes, alongside a foodstore, commercial, and community space. The development will also include dedicated green space and pedestrian routes, ensuring it is both sustainable and well-connected.

The recent sale to Lidl reflects Danum Homes’ commitment to bringing forward high-quality, balanced developments that combine residential, retail, and community amenities to benefit local residents.

Steve Mosby, Managing Director of Danum Homes, said:

“We’re delighted to complete the sale of the foodstore element of our Market Weighton site to Lidl. Their investment represents a fantastic addition to this growing community and aligns perfectly with our vision for a vibrant, sustainable place to live and work.

This milestone highlights our ability to deliver both residential and commercial units to the market, creating long-term value for the community and our partners. We’re proud of the collaboration that’s brought this scheme forward and look forward to continuing our successful relationship with Richborough on future projects.”

The transaction was completed with support from Millea Group, acting as land consultancy advisers to Danum Homes.

Based in Doncaster, Danum Homes is the open-market residential arm of the Danum Group, which has been delivering quality developments across Yorkshire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire for more than 25 years.

The Market Weighton scheme will continue to evolve over the coming months as detailed plans for the residential and community elements progress – with Lidl’s presence providing an early cornerstone for this exciting new neighbourhood.
